Amazon India announces 6500 jobs, soon get to apply
The famous e-commerce company, Amazon India, is going to give 6500 jobs this month. In fact, Amazon India is going to not plan to host Great Indian Sale on 24 January 24th. The company is recruiting for this cell. These 6500 recruitments will be on temporary posts and this job will only be done by Amazon’s mega cell.
Let us state that the company organizes this cell every year, in which all the products available on the website are presented with discounts and offers. The company gets huge response in this cell every year for its customers.
Well done, you’ve made it through the CV filtering stage and you’re facing your first telephone interview with someone from Amazon. You might be thinking about it with a bit of a sense of trepidation. Amazon is known for its rigorous interview process…… right?
That is right. But making it through the process isn’t impossible!!!
Amazon employs more than 150,000 people globally. That’s a pretty big bunch of people who made it through the process. There’s no reason you couldn’t be one of them. But there are a number of things I suggest you focus on, if you want to maximise your chances of being one of them.
- Value The Process
To make it into Amazon you’ll probably have to go through a process of a couple of phone interviews, then a full day of interviews at an Amazon office, with a number of different “Amazonians”. And maybe, if there is some uncertainty, a call back for a final interview.
This might feel like a lot. And perhaps it’s more interviews than you’ve had for other companies. But I’d really encourage you to look at the process from a different perspective.
Amazon takes its recruiting very seriously. Every employee who conducts an interview has gone through a formal training programme of instruction, shadowing and being shadowed, before they’re allowed to interview solo.
Before they talk to you they’ll have made sure they understand the requirements of the role you’ve applied for, read your CV closely, and decided what questions to ask you. Then as they talk to you, they’ll be taking notes to gather detailed documented evidence of what you’ve told them. After meeting with you, they’ll review and write up those notes. And if you’re at the face to face stage, they’ll meet with all the other people you’ve met, to discuss and share notes.
Many hours of Amazonians’ time is invested in this process. As I see it, that’s because not only does Amazon want to hire the best candidates (doesn’t every company?) but also because Amazon respects the level of commitment you’ve made to this process. You’ve maybe taken time out of work, hopefully you’ve put in lots of preparation. Amazon appreciates that it asks a lot of its candidates and therefore takes its responsibility seriously, to treat your time and effort with respect.
As another perspective, it’s also an awesome chance to meet lots of different Amazonians. A chance for you to get perspectives from a number of different people, not just the hiring manager, which may be the case with other hire processes.
So….. value the process, it’s there because Amazon values its candidates.
- Pay Attention To The Leadership Principles
Amazon has 14 Leadership Principles it openly talks about and publishes on its website. Now don’t make the mistake of thinking these Leadership Principles are similar to the “Values” that other businesses you may have worked for purport to hold dear. Perhaps a few deeply considered phrases, developed by the Brand team, you’ll find displayed around the building, or on mugs at the coffee station. Worse yet on your computer mouse mat.
I’ve never seen a mug or poster in an Amazon building with the Leadership Principles on them. That’s because there’s no need to stick them up on a wall or in ceramic to remind people of them. Every Amazonian knows exactly what all 14 are and the definitions of each. That’s because Amazonians live and breathe these Leadership Principles in everything they say and do, every day. Reminders are not necessary.
My advice is to find them, study them and be sure you understand them. They tell you pretty much everything you need to know about what it takes to be an Amazonian.
So…… pay attention to the Principles, you won’t ever be sipping tea from them.
- Prepare your case for why you are already an Amazonian.
Amazon is an evidence driven business and believes that the best indicator of how you’ll perform in the future, is how you have performed in the past. The interview process exists to gather evidence of if you already behave like an Amazonian.
At every stage of the process you’ll be asked competency questions based on the Leadership Principles. So look at each one and consider how in previous roles, you’ve found yourself behaving in line with them. Be prepared to share them, in detail, with your interviewers.
So….. work out how you’ve already been an Amazonian before you’re ever an Amazonian.
That’s it. It’s that simple.
